A Spanner in the Works
by admin - 23:03 on 23 March 2011
Fate seems determined to keep The Bumper Book of Black Isle Snappery a niche publication rather than a mass market bestseller.
Just days after Norman and Co gave us a quote for up to two thousand litho copies, Norman has decided that he doesn't have the right equipment to do the job. And that it would take three months anyway. This was a bit of a surprise.
He's promised to ask his chums in the printing world if any of them could take on the work, so we'll have to wait and see what turns up and hope they'd not expect full payment straight away. Even if that's sorted out to everyone's satisfaction there'd be more proofs to be done and colours to be adjusted and fear of a second Great Binding Disaster.
The life of a self-publisher is a fraught one.
In the short term we'll probably get another two or three hundred Bumper Books printed by Norman, for stocks will be low by the end of next week. Most frustrating.
