The Power of the Press
by admin - 17:33 on 25 March 2011
Part One of the media blitz that will introduce The Bumper Book of Black Isle Snappery to the world was carried out today when the Ross-shire Journal featured a half-page news story on the Highlands' newest photo book.
Anything that carries "superb" in the headline can only be a good thing.
This was backed up by the story's appearance on the RJ website, which included a link to my own website. Visitor numbers have increased dramatically – that's the power of the press.
As yet, the increase in visitors has not corresponded with an increase in orders, which is just as well for concern is growing in certain parts of the triumvirate about whether we'll have enough books to sell at The Official Launch Shindig.

I'm less concerned. What will be will be (as Doris told us many years ago). And an orders waiting list will be a strong bargaining point when negotiating with Norman's successor.
We now have one quote on the table, from Dunfermline, and two pending, from Inverness. Our proud boast of being "photographed, printed and published in Ross-shire" will have to be quietly forgotten. At least the printing won't be outsourced to China.
Credit will be the sticking point, so it may be that we have to work our way up to the big numbers. We'll get there eventually – our first two hundred copies will buy the next three hundred, which could buy almost a thousand.
Just in time for the Black Isle Show in August. Or Christmas. Or next year's show. We'll get our money back one day.
