The Holidays Start Here

I left GNoME HQ today with a spring in my step, ready for the Easter break – which will be a longer one than I'd planned. Next week was already booked off, but just before I escaped into the hazy sunshine the Chief Gnome's assistant informed me that my services won't be required the week after that either.
Things must be bad when the powers-that-be are penny-pinching over the meagre sum they pay me.
I should have expected something. All the papers which comprise the Great Northern Media Empire are to charge for publication of graduation photographs – something that's always been a news item. Next they'll expect to be paid to print wedding photos, and cause apoplexy in mums all over the Highlands.
So it's no surprise that two GNoME titles, the Ross-shire Journal and Inverness Courier, were happy to accept a free copy each of The Bumper Book of Black Isle Snappery to give away in reader competitions tomorrow.
Our largess was prompted by the publicity we'll garner for the availability of the new print run, which arrived at last in Dingwall today. The books will be distributed to eager outlets tomorrow, if Andrew decides they meet his quality standards. He's a hard man to please.
