A Walk in the Woods

by admin - 23:47 on 15 May 2011

Matchgirl is losing the battle with The Rural Retreat's rampaging rodents. Her traps were empty this morning and scurrying can still be heard inside the wall space despite the high tech sonic equipment she bought which is supposed to scare them away.

I still think we should put Bess into the walls to earn her keep but Matchgirl continues to oppose the suggestion.

Much of today was spent in front of the Mac, preparing images so they're suitable for use in the forthcoming litho version of The Bumper Book of Black Isle Snappery, which will be the subject of our third print run – a thousand copies produced by someone who isn't Norman and Co. The second run should be in the shops by the weekend and looks certain to sell out all three hundred copies as quickly as the first two hundred.

We might even see some profit soon.

On The Lookout

Bess – serious even when she's having fun

Despite the hard work, Matchgirl and I found time to accompany Bess on a stroll through neighbouring woodland. Several snaps of our photogenic moggy have been added to the collection, which was consolation for the lack of pine marten action today.

Queen of the Forest

A little cat in a big world

Yesterday's visitor didn't return during the night and hasn't been see this evening either. Matchgirl wasn't happy that I named him/her Lumpy – she's very protective of our garden wildlife – so a new name will be bestowed when I get to know him/her better.

All suggestions welcome.
