Back on the Black Isle

by admin - 22:07 on 04 June 2011

Where did the sun go? The journey home was in temperatures that felt fifteen degrees colder than yesterday, which at least meant there was no temptation to meander. We were back not long after 4pm. Bess was delighted.

Soo and Tony were long gone but had left a message to inform us that marten sightings were sparse in our absence – no change there, then – and that video proof had been gathered with regard to the identity of the cheeky visitor who raids Bess's bowl at night. I'll share it with you when I have it.

Matchgirl and I recovered from our 1,100-mile round trip with a feast of cheese on toast and a further feast of Doctor Who on iPlayer. She's really missed him. The Hotel Inspector's greatest fan also amused herself by leaving comments on TripAdvisor about Brandy Bank (excellent) and the White Rose (less so).

Few snaps were taken during the week – I must get a compact for use with the bike – and even fewer survived quality control. Here are three that did, to give a flavour of the Dales. Take a trip there – you won't regret it. Unless you stay at the White Rose in Askrigg.

Great photos. How did you manage to get the lambs to line up like that?

Pure luck – they were very inquisitive.
