Angry Birds

I should have taken more notice when Shrek became agitated. Hearing a pheasant shouting is not uncommon; his persistence was, which is why I did eventually look through the window – to see one of the young pine martens ranging about the garden, wondering why there was no Nutella to be found.
The reason for the lack of goodies was the time. It was 7pm; Marten supper is usually served at 8pm, otherwise half of it gets nicked by hungry birds.
Disappointed, he disappeared into the undergrowth before I had a chance to focus the Pentax on him. Nutella, nuts and egg was put out straight away but he didn't return.
Master Marten did, more than two hours later when the light had reached the usual state of gloom in which I've snapped this year's mustelids. At least there are a few buttercups to brighten the scene.
