More and More Mysterious

by admin - 22:42 on 24 June 2011

The Perplexing Box Mystery continues to be mysterious. I was up bright and early to be in Findhorn for 9am and pick up my wallet and the missing copies of The Bumper Book of Black Isle Snappery. Tigger produced the wallet straight away but his customary grin faltered when I told him about the lost box.

A search found nothing; nor did questioning of staff. Investigations will continue.

Copies of the new, improved edition have already been snapped up by regular outlets (including Waterstone's, which had sold out) and a couple of new ones have taken a handful to test the water. Others declined the opportunity. Sralan would be unimpressed by their lack of business acumen.

Wildlife Update: No martens have been seen at the time of writing, despite the much improved weather, but a familiar hedgehog was briefly spotted disappearing into the undergrowth from the direction of the apple tree, where the peanut feeder was an the ground. Whether he'd climbed up to knock it down I couldn't say.

As it's now safe to describe him as The Rural Retreat's resident hedgehog he needs a name. It could only be Speedy.

Keep your eye on the peanut feeder. Last time we stayed we returned from trips out to find it on the ground several times, it never happened when we were in!
