Back For Breakfast

Since the unfortunate strimming of the photogenic clump, none of the marten visitors had found the egg in its new location – until this morning.
At 6.30 I heard the loud twittering I can now recognise as lots of small birds shouting “Go away!” and “Be careful, the predator's back!” and looked out to see Mrs Marten getting stuck into the Nutella and peanut butter smeared on the flat stone I'd secreted in the second choice clump.
After eating her fill she picked up the adjacent egg and loped into the undergrowth, leaving her avian audience still shouting.
The snaps I took weren't particularly sharp but I saved a couple anyway.
Mr Gardener returned today to continue his slash and burn approach to ground preparation and to trim our over-luxuriant willow tree, as a result of which we now have a neat pile of small willow logs outside the living room window. Their use has still to be determined.
Something else to be decided is what will be done with all the space we now have beyond the front door. Several books were left for our perusal ahead of a summit meeting tomorrow with Mr Gardener.
So many possibilities; it could be tricky
