Matchgirl Strikes Back
by admin - 22:00 on 20 September 2011
Technology has a lot to answer for, as do Matchgirl's friends in Shetland – especially the one who told her about the Star Wars phone app. The Rural Retreat is now filled with the sound of light sabres as Obi-Wan Matchgirl whirls her phone around while taking part in the attack on the Death Star.
Mr Rayburn was lucky to miss her when he returned today to complete his servicing tasks, which included extracting 60-70 litres of water from the oil tank. How much was rain and how much condensation he couldn't say. At least all is well again, for the time being.
Not so well is the state of garden wildlife. The Bushnell captured not a single pixel last night; egg, Nutella and peanut butter was untouched. Where Mrs Marten and the Speedys have gone I don't know, but it's suspicious that Squirrel James had been around during our absence.
If they don't return tonight I might have to check his shed.
I'm pleased that sense prevailed and you returned to your real home last night. You look very smart in your latest Bushnell video. I'm sure Squirrel James did his best to provide a nice place but there's no substitute for The Rural Retreat.

I write to thank you for all the Nutella, eggs and raisins you have supplied to our family over the past few years. This has been a lifeline in difficult times and provided a great source of food to me and my kits. We have also enjoyed using your garden for night time Highland dancing and other activities.
We have now decided that it’s time to move on to a new Rural Retreat and the care of a Mr Marten James (aka dolphin James, Squirrel James and no-marten James). We were persuaded to move on last weekend when he replaced you as temporary head feeder whilst you and MG dined in the comfort of Boath House.
We will try to keep in touch with the occasional letter and postcard and would like to offer an invitation to visit us at any time in the NRR.
With thanks and best wishes.
The Marten Family.
