Gathered Together

The only place to be on the Black Isle today was Fortrose Academy, where the Black Isle Gathering was held – an opportunity for local clubs, organisations, leisure groups and traders to promote themselves.
One modest table was occupied by copies of The Bumper Book of Black Isle Snappery, which brought a few more pounds into its authors' coffers, and a hand-picked range of prints and cards, which didn't.
However, we finished the day happy and with word of The Bumper Book spread a little further afield.
I also found myself a new job, although sadly unpaid. By the end of the year I'll be the new layout editor of award-winning south Black Isle community magazine Chatterbox. This hits the streets four times a year, so all being well it shouldn't present too many problems for a man with Quark at his fingertips. We'll see.
The only down side of the day was that I missed good weather and the opportunity to trim an increasingly shaggy lawn. A gardener's work is never done.
