A Day Indoors

Bess the weather-forecasting cat was correct – The Rural Retreat's garden was today sprinkled with its first snowfall this winter. Sparse it may be, but there's sure to be more to come.
The meteorological moggy made the most of the morning, before the white stuff left her reluctant to venture outdoors, by capturing an unwary coal tit and bringing it inside to show off. How she managed this feat is a mystery, for few birds are faster that coal tits; it must have been day-dreaming of the summer.
Thankfully, I was able to rescue the panting captive, who flew away with no more damage than some disarranged tail feathers.
Like Bess, I've been unwilling to move far today. The fire was lit by early afternoon and this evening, despite having a ticket for the Cromarty Film Festival event in Resolis Hall which also featured curry and a guest appearance by Ian Rankin, I chose to stay home.
I know, I'm a wuss. It could be a long winter.
