Quality Gifts For Christmas

Dornoch is not on the Black Isle – it's not even in Ross-shire – but the townsfolk know quality when they see it.

The mystery buyer who ordered twenty-five copies of The Bumper Book of Black Isle Snappery has been revealed as a representative of the Dornoch Castle Hotel. And today, the owner of The Dornoch Bookshop phoned to request more books after selling its last one and leaving a customer disappointed.

This could be a good omen. On Saturday I return to the world of commerce, at Culbokie Market; more cards have been produced in anticipation of brisk festive business, including a new one featuring two of The Rural Retreat's great spotted woodpeckers.

In addition, my updated Photo Sales page now features two new sets of prints: Scottish Mammals and Birds. Move quickly and you could receive them in time to give a thoughtful Christmas gift to someone you love.
