Mrs Marten in the Frame
by admin - 20:33 on 22 February 2012
Pine martens, as is their way, continue to play hard to get. All that the Bushnell caught following the night of multiple martens was a prowling puss at 10pm, a lone marten at 5am, and a phalanx of pheasants at 7.30am.
Shrek, if it is he, has four wives at his beck and call this year. One of them may have already had an adventurous life for she appears to have a foot missing.
The Bushnell was out again last night and the mooching moggy featured for a third time. Also snapped were a marten at 1.15am and another ninety minutes later. Or maybe the same one – it's difficult to say. However, comparison with a snap taken last year suggests that the first visitor was Mrs Marten. Look at the dots on her bib.
I'll continue to monitor the situation.
Last night's first visitor...
...and Mrs Marten in June last year.
Mrs Marten returns – or is this another individual?
