A Tough Weekend For Matchgirl
by admin - 23:16 on 26 February 2012
Matchgirl set off on a tentative run this morning and returned after three miles, convinced that her marathon dream was over. I won't make light of it, because she was so upset, but by the end of the day she was feeling better both physically and emotionally.
Her schedule doesn't include runs for the next two days so Wednesday could be when she decides whether the London Marathon is achievable. If she does pull out, at least she'll have a guaranteed place next year. The training will continue; she's already got her eye on marathons and half marathons in Edinburgh, Dublin and Mull.
I'll continue to remind her of the existence of the Bermuda Marathon. You never know.
The only thing of note in my weekend is that my career in fiction has resumed, albeit in a small way. Today I completed the first draft of my entry for a short story competition in aid of the Edinburgh Sick Kids Foundation. Fingers crossed.
