A Brace of Martens
by admin - 22:31 on 29 February 2012
The Bushnell continues to snap garden visitors, although its performance is sometimes erratic. Last night it captured the first pine marten at 7.40, then nothing for four hours despite the egg being moved during that time. Very strange.
But it came up trumps after 1am when two martens were snapped together. I'm still unable to determine their relationship.
A strolling moggy also featured heavily, and 7.30am is clearly the time when Shrek and the ladies come for breakfast. There's no sign yet of hedgehogs, although Matchgirl did see one yesterday during her trip to Aberdeenshire.
Other signs of spring include the first hint of yellow among the garden's daffodils, rhubarb shoots, catkins, and the overnight appearance of ground elder. However, there's no immediate opportunity to get to work with rake and spade – much of today was spent printing and preparing for a two-day craft fair at Strathpeffer Pavilion, starting tomorrow, at which I hope to close the gap between snappery expenditure and income.
I can dream.
